Co-founder & CEO

PhD in RNA biochemistry. Instrumental in the development of RevoNA’s biological platform since its inception. Former member of the University of Southampton spin-out, Capsant Neurotechnologies. Entrepreneurial Lead in the Innovate UK ICURe programme with first-hand knowledge of the RNA therapeutics landscape. Awarded a Royal Society of Edinburgh Enterprise Fellowship funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Science Research council (BBSRC) with training in entrepreneurship, finance, and communication. Participant of the Start Codon Venture Builder.

Anastasia Callaghan

Co-founder & CSO

Inventor of RevoNA’s platform. Holds a personal Chair in RNA Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics at the University of Portsmouth with over 20 years’ experience in RNA biology. Graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Warwick and held a postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge in RNA processing. Pioneering in the field of RNA with numerous journal articles and book chapters including in Nature. Former Principal Scientist of bioanalytical science at Pfizer, leading a focused team in conducting research in early drug discovery. Awarded the Pfizer impact award for outstanding contribution.

Ian Gilham

Non-Executive Chairman

Seasoned leader with an international track record in the research, development, and commercialisation of diagnostic and pharmaceutical products. Proven success in mergers and acquisitions including his time as CEO of Axis Shield leading to its sale to Alere in 2011 for £250 million. Multiple former chairman roles at Concepta, Biosurfit, Multiplicom, Elucigene, Aptamer group, and notably Horizon discoveries, where £80m was raised in 2017 in a transformative deal to acquire Dharmacon before selling to Perkin Elmer in 2021 for £296m. Current non-executive chair role at Genedrive, Pelago Bioscience and Chair of Trustees at LifeArc.

David Sheppard

Non-Executive Director

Biotech inventor/entrepreneur with 14+ patents. Expert in the areas of AI and RNA-targeting therapeutics. Founder and former CEO of series A funded start up, Entact Bio. Originally a computational chemist with industry experience at Protherics, Amgen and Medivir. Founder of Sheppard Consultancy Ltd, specialising in pre-clinical small molecule drug discovery and biotech company formation; previous clients included Anima Biotech (Head of Chemistry) and Benevolent AI.
